Hawaii at Ohio State

When: Saturday at 3:30 ET

Ohio State plays their home opener on Saturday afternoon against Hawaii. It’s short rest for the No. 1 team in the country while Hawaii has over a week to prepare for this game and make the long trip to the continental United States. Ohio State is a 40-point favorite here but the total at 59.5 is what interests me in this game.

I think Ohio State can get close to that 59.5 by themselves. They have two quarterbacks who believe they can start. Cardale Jones got the nod in Ohio State’s 42-24 win over Virginia Tech. JT Barrett spelled Jones when the game was out of reach and led a touchdown drive of his own. Both quarterbacks will want to continue to impress and Urban Meyer will likely let his offense name the score in most of their games.

Hawaii is a team that will look to put up points and two touchdowns from the visitors might be enough for this game to go over. Norm Chow is an offensive-minded coach and he has former USC quarterback Max Wittek at quarterback. Let’s jump on the Ohio State over train at a reasonable number.

Pick: Over 59.5
