- Last Game vs Eastern Michigan: 26 carries, 233 yards, 3 TD
Leonard Fournette is hands down the best player in college football right now. He’s putting the LSU offense on his back, and taking a lot of pressure off sophomore quarterback Brandon Harris, who has only averaged 15 passing attempts a game.
He is now the first player in SEC history to run for at least 200 yards in three straight games, and is on pace for more than 3,000 this season. While, he may not keep that up once LSU hits the brunt of their conference schedule, he’s on pace to break Barry Sander’s single-season rushing record of 2,628 yards. He would be the sixth SEC running back to win, joining the likes of Bo Jackson and Herschel Walker.
We’ll get to see Fournette go up against South Carolina this week. The Gamecocks allow 170 yards on the ground, ranking ninth in the SEC and only Auburn has allowed more than the nine rushing touchdowns. South Carolina gave 246 yards and four touchdowns to Georgia, with 159 yards and two scores coming from Nick Chubb earlier this season. If Chubb and Georgia did that, Fournette should have his fourth straight 200-yard game on Saturday.
