Urban Meyer should show Jones the sideline and keep him there. Jones has proven to be pretty effective when needed off the bench. He has not proven to be a fast starter.

Despite giving up several long runs to Saquon Barkley, the Ohio State defense hurried and hassled Christian Hackenberg consistently and shut down the Nittany Lions when it counted; yielding just ten points.

Ohio State hopes to keep its mojo when it travels to Rutgers to take on the somewhat surprising Scarlet Knights.

Ohio State Buckeyes (7-0, 3-0)

Last week: W Penn State 38-10
Last rank: 3

The No. 1 team finally looked like the No. 1 team. And maybe the best team even finally settled on the best quarterback. Ohio State disposed of Penn State 38-10 in the Buckeyes’ most quality win of the year. The performance wasn’t dominant by most measurements, but was certainly worthy of a top ranked team against a quality opponent.

Cardale Jones misfired far more than his 9 for 15 performance would indicate. The Buckeyes’ offense sputtered for the entire first quarter. Enter J.T. Barrett in red zone situations and introduce productivity and points. Barrett is both the superior runner and the superior runner of the offense. In just four pass attempts, Barrett also brushed off some rust and showed us the passer that produced 34 TD’s through the air last year.
