No. 12 Richmond Spiders at No. 3 James Madison Dukes (FCS)
Point Spread: James Madison – 13.5
We turn our attention to the FCS where ESPN and College GameDay are in Harrisonburg, VA on the campus of James Madison University where the Dukes are undefeated heading into Saturday’s game with Richmond.
James Madison already has a win over SMU while Richmond is 5-1 with their only loss coming to Maryland in the season opener.
This winner of this game seizes control of the Colonial Athletic Association in a great opportunity for both programs to showcase themselves in what may be the biggest game in the FCS regular season.
James Madison is averaging 48.7 points per game, the second most in the FCS, behind Georgia Tech transfer quarterback Vad Lee who is arguably the best player on this level. Lee ranks fourth with 1,896 passing yards and ranks 12th (most among quarterbacks) with 690 rushing yards. His 19 passing touchdowns are the third most and when you add his five rushing scores, his 24 combined scores are one off the FCS lead.
Despite all that, I am going to take Richmond in the upset. Regardless of who wins this football game, it’s great to see these FCS schools get this nationwide audience.
