While Barrett was given red zone playing time vs Maryland and handed the job halfway through the Penn State game, Meyer finally let Barrett cut loose and throw the ball downfield vs Rutgers in a 49-7 romp. The shackles are off. Ohio State’s offense with its abundance of playmakers is finding its mojo. Michael Thomas may be the best wide receiver in the nation. Braxton Miller is a special talent and Ezekiel Elliott is a true workhorse.
From the time Ohio State found itself inexplicably in a 21-21 tie with Maryland on October 10th until giving a garbage time touchdown late vs Rutgers, the Buckeyes ran off a 115-17 scoring run over eight quarters vs the Terps, Penn State, and the Scarlet Knights.
Ohio State’s soft schedule gets mighty hard in a hurry in the final two weeks. The Buckeyes will have to prove resilient and focused to deal with the Michigan State showdown followed by the annual rivalry game with Michigan to end the season.

Ohio State Buckeyes 8-0
Last week: W 49-7 RUT
Last rank: 14
For six weeks Ohio State got a huge benefit of the doubt. Over the past two weeks the Buckeyes have earned its No. 1 ranking and, therefore, our top spot in the Big Ten.
J.T. Barrett is the right man to lead this offense. We made the call in August. It took Urban Meyer another six weeks to see the light. A roster loaded with talent and a light schedule has kept Meyer’s error in judgement from costing the Buckeyes. Barrett hit on 14 of 18 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns.
