All-Time Program Record: 500–526–45

This is perplexing a member of this list as there is. Washington State is in a great location, has excellent facilities, and plays in a desirable conference. Yet, they never seem to be able to land the big recruits, and can’t put together a string of winning seasons.

The Cougars have only four conference titles to claim, the last coming in 2002, and have appeared in only 11 postseason bowl games in program history. Head coach Mike Leach was hired in 2012 to turn the Cougars into a power in the Pac-12, so far that plan has fizzled.

Trying to compete on the recruiting trail with Washington, Oregon and other Pac-12 programs isn’t easy, and unless Washington State moves to the Mountain West, it may be a long time before they celebrate another conference title. National championship isn’t in the cards.
