Earlier this season, both LSU and Ole Miss were ranked in the top five in the country. Both teams held SEC Championship and national title aspirations. However, with a combined five losses since Oct. 3 (and three in the last two weeks), the Tigers and Rebels are both struggling to stay in the Top 25. One squad will pick up a much needed victory Saturday in Oxford, while the other could find its coach on the hot seat.

LSU running back Leonard Fournette has been effectively contained in back-to-back losses to Alabama and Arkansas. After running for 150 yards or more in his first seven games this year, Fournette has gained just 122 yards with two touchdowns on 38 carries combined against the Crimson Tide and Razorbacks.

The Ole Miss rush defense has allowed just 125.7 rushing yards per game this season, which ranks No. 23 in the country, and opponents have scored only five rushing TDs this year, which is tied with Alabama and Boston College for the nation’s best.

If the Rebels – whose defensive unit includes All-American and first round talent such as Robert Nkemdiche and Tony Conner – can contain Fournette again, Ole Miss has a great shot to win. And, if “DBU” can’t contain the SEC’s most explosive passing offense led by quarterback Chad Kelly (3,224 passing yards, 23 TD, 12 INT) and Laquon Treadwell (68 receptions, 1,002 receiving yards, 7 TD), the Tigers could be in big trouble.

Of course, LSU and head coach Les Miles won’t go down without a fight. The Tigers have talent all over the field, and are capable of pulling off the upset on the road. Expect it to be close, but for the Rebels to win.
