The Gary Pinkel era of Missouri football ended with a rain-soaked 28-3 loss to Arkansas Friday. The loss means Mizzou finished the regular season 5-7 overall and 1-7 in SEC play, and Pinkel will retire with a career record of 191-110-3 as a head coach, including a 117-70 mark in 15 seasons in Columbia.

Poor offense was the downfall of the Tigers this season, and Friday’s game was no different. Despite playing an Arkansas defense that came in ranked dead last in the SEC in both scoring defense and total defense, the Tigers managed just 171 yards of total offense and eight first downs.

Quarterback Drew Lock completed nine of 27 pass attempts for 83 yards (a mere 3.1 yards per catch) and an interception. Lock also gained 17 rushing yards on seven carries, which included three sacks.

Overall, Mizzou gained only 88 rushing yards on 25 carries (3.5 yards per attempt). Ish Witter led the Tigers with 33 yards on six carries. Tyler Hunt ran for 24 yards on seven attempts and Russell Hansbrough gained just 14 yards on five carries.

The Missouri defense, which was the brightest spot of the season for the Tigers, contained Arkansas’ passing attack and held the Razorbacks to just 102 yards through the air and intercepted a pass. However, Mizzou allowed 208 rushing yards in the loss.
