St. Petersburg Bowl
Connecticut vs. Marshall
St. Petersburg, Florida | Tropicana Field
Dec. 26, 11 a.m. on ESPN

Another Florida city with a baseball park that undersells, another bowl that we probably don’t need.

Marshall was the darling of the Group of Five teams last season, coming within a whisker of going undefeated and possibly upsetting the College Football Playoff system in its first year. This season the Thundering Herd still played well, but nothing up to last season’s standard.

UConn is in a bowl game…at 6-6.

Hooray.

In fairness to the Huskies, the did lose six games to six quality teams, and played pretty decently on defense all year (other than giving up 37 points to Cincinnati). On the flip side, Marshall’s three losses were to the only three quality team they played all year, all of them also playing in postseason games.

Line: Marshall, -4

Vegas seems to be under the delusion that less losses on a weaker schedule is better. UConn’s defense can win this game, and certainly keep it under four points. Take the Huskies.
