National Signing Day 2016: Predicting where top 30 uncommitted recruits sign
23. David Long
- Location/High School: Los Angeles CA./Loyola
- 247Sports Composite Rank: No. 66
- 247Sports Position Rank: No. 8 CB
Michigan and Washington are the two frontrunners for four-star cornerback prospect David Long. Notching 23 offers in total, many teams are vying for his services. Michigan may have the edge here and I would not be shocked to see him out on the hat of the Maize and Blue come the first week of February.
The Wolverines currently have a cornerback in the 2016 class in three-star commit Antwaine Richardson ( Delray Beach FL. Atlantic) and a commit from long would add depth to the class. With 23 total commitments, the class ranks No. 2 in the country and No. 1 in the Big Ten per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
What Long would bring to Michigan would be excellent coverage skills. He has a tremendous ability to stay in front of his man, keep his body square and instead of focusing on his man, he reads where the ball is going and makes a play on it. He would fit right in with a group of Michigan cornerbacks who are tasked with covering the athletic receivers in the Big 10.
I see him ending up in Ann Arbor, He would fit right in with the Wolverine defense, and that combined with Jim Harbaugh’s ability to recruit will see him end up at The Big House come September.
Prediction: Michigan
