Jonathan Allen may have the best NFL future among Alabama’s returning starters in 2016, but safety Eddie Jackson was the team’s top playmaker in 2015. A former cornerback that moved to safety during spring practice in 2015, Jackson tied for the interception lead in the SEC with six – two of which he returned for touchdowns. Jackson’s final interception of the season helped turn the tide early in the CFP national title game after Clemson took a 14-7 lead.
Jackson’s 230 yards on interception returns led the conference as well and set a new single season school record. He also added 46 tackles, including three for a loss, with two pass breakups, a forced fumble and recovered a fumble.
Listed at 6-foot and 194 pounds, Jackson lacks the ideal size to play safety in the NFL, but has the ball skills and the playmaking ability to make an impact at the next level. Of course, that will have to wait as Jackson decided to return to Tuscaloosa for his senior season in 2016.
