NFL Draft: 25 best first overall picks of all-time
By Gabe Encinas
After earning Consensus All-American honors at USC back in 1995, the 6’4” 212-pound receiver found himself atop the draft board for the New York Jets in the 1996 NFL Draft.
While he bounced around quite a bit after the Jets, playing with the Buccaneers for four seasons, the Cowboys for two and the Panthers for one, he was productive with all four teams, so it’s hard to tell which team he found the most success with. He earned Pro Bowl honors twice with Jets and once with the Buccaneers and won Super Bowl XXXVII with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Johnson was just a physical receiver who loved to talk through the facemask, getting under the skin of his opponents. He ended up with 814 receptions and 10,571 yards in his career, adding 64 touchdowns.
