In 1983, Prince’s 1999 album was dominating the charts from week to week, and Let’s Pretend We’re Married became a huge hit from that masterpiece.

Oh Louisville, the domestic discord with Bobby Petrino is such an homage to this song. On again, off again, but always pining for each other apparently. Petrino has now signed a new 7-year extension with Louisville, so it looks like the nuptials may actually take this time.

Oh wait, that was the story in 2006 wasn’t it?

Petrino’s unfaithfulness to the various programs he’s spurned, and to the women he’s…burned, are a perfect backdrop to this playful Prince hit. Wonder if the Cardinals got themselves a pre-nup this time.
