Predicting the worst 2016 college football teams in each conference
Big Ten
Contenders for the Cellar: Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Maryland Terrapins, Purdue Boilermakers
Pick For Last: Purdue Boilermakers
2015 Record: 2-10, 1-7 Big Ten
2016 Prediction: 1-11, 0-8 Big Ten
Maryland and Rutgers struggled after entering the Big Ten, but both have at least made changes and some improvements to both coaching staffs and on-field personnel.
The same can’t be said for Purdue.
Last season was one of the worst in Purdue football history, with the only two wins coming against FCS Indiana State and a huge upset of Nebraska (unlikely to repeat this season). The Boilermakers gave up 438 points last season – second worst in the conference – and were only able to muster 301 points of offense (55 of those coming against Nebraska).
Head coach Darrell Hazell is 6-30 in his first three seasons at Purdue – it will be a miracle if he makes it through his fourth.
