Contenders for the Cellar: Charlotte 49ers, North Texas Mean Green, UTEP Miners

Pick For Last: Charlotte 49ers

2015 Record: 2-10, 0-8 C-USA
2016 Prediction: 2-10, 1-7 C-USA

North Texas and UTEP might barely eek out a victory more than Charlotte this season, but given the schedules and the players, it’s hard to believe anyone losing more than the 49ers.

Charlotte struggled mightily in their first year of FBS play, but even as an FCS team they weren’t even playing .500 football under Brad Lambert.

Opening against Louisville isn’t doing this program any favors, while Eastern Michigan and Temple are no longer the easy outs they may have been in the past. This team needs more time to grow into the role of playing with the big boys.

With the 79th ranked recruiting class in the nation this year (per 247 composite rankings) it’s hard to imagine any progress being made to keep Purdue out of the bottom of the Big Ten.
