No. 3 Kansas State Wildcats

People can say what ever they want, but the truth is that Kansas State earned a ton of respect by opening its season against a tough No. 8 ranked Stanford team on the road.

Many expected that despite a Cardinal QB battle, running back and Heisman hopeful, Christian McCaffrey would be Stanford’s weapon of choice. But the Kansas State defense (and a major hold by Stanford on a punt return for a touchdown) held McCaffrey to just 126 rushing yards and two touchdowns. All things considered, it could have been much worse.

Kansas State played with confidence, and quarterback Jesse Ertz showed poise and mobility–all necessary for success in the Big 12.

The Wildcats might have lost, but a 13-26 loss to a potential playoff team is reason to be optimistic for Bill Snyder’s team.
