Number 12. Vanderbilt  

Week 1 result: (0-1) 13-10 Loss to South Carolina

Vanderbilt looked like they might have an offense finally, and then it quickly went away. A quick 10-0 lead halftime was not enough for the Commodores as their stellar defense was not able to stop the Gamecock offense in the second half.

Vanderbilt can still be a good team, but they needed a win over South Carolina to really have any realistic chance to get to bowl game in 2016. As stated, the Commodores defense looked great, as it was supposed to. As the game went on however, the defense was gassed and gave up plays. Vanderbilt will have to have a more consistent offense if they want to reach a bowl game this season.
