The North Carolina Tar Heels move up one spot in this week’s rankings after showing improvements on offense. Although the Tar Heels trailed James Madison 21-14 after the first quarter, they adjusted to pull out an impressive victory.

All of the Tar Heels points came by way of a touchdown. They only punted once in the game.

Quarterback Mitch Trubisky set a career high with 432 passing yards and three passing touchdowns. Trubisky threw for a school record 18 straight completions and his 156 pass completions without an interception is now a school record as well. He was 24 for 27 in the game.

It was also a good day on the ground for Tar Heels running back Elijah Hood. Hood carried the ball 18 times for 106 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

North Carolina was 7 for 8 on third down efficiency and recorded 635 yards of total offense in their victory. Running back T.J. Logan also had nine carries for 41 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

The Tar Heels defense held James Madison to seven points after the first quarter and recorded six sacks in the game.

Next Week: Pittsburgh

The Tar Heels open their ACC schedule against the Pittsburgh Panthers, a familiar foe. The Tar Heels have defeated the Panthers in the last three straight games. Next week will certainly shake up the ACC Power Rankings.
