24. Iowa Hawkeyes

Average Home Attendance 2006-2015: 69,098 (97.9% of capacity)
Average Season Winning Percentage: .600
Seasons Under 90% Capacity: 1
Seasons Over 100% Capacity: 6

For nearly two decades Iowa football has been synonymous with Kirk Ferentz, which has come with all the attendant highs and lows that entails. Under Ferentz the Hawkeyes are a boom-or-bust team, winning two Big Ten titles in 17 seasons. While Iowa has twice finished with 11 or more wins in the past decade, the Hawkeyes have also won six games or fewer three times. And considering the large contract extensions which continue to be given to Ferentz, the loyalty of the fans will probably continue to be tested.

And on that note, the fans have responded with respectable loyalty for most of the past decade. Despite winning just six games a year in 2006 and 2007, Kinnick Stadium was sold out Saturday after autumn Saturday. The 4-8 campaign in 2012 still saw 99.8 percent attendance for home games. Yet the one time the Hawkeyes saw their fans finally stop coming to Iowa City was last year as they rolled to a 12-0 regular season and the Big Ten West crown. The only sellout came against Minnesota in the battle for the Floyd of Rosedale.

After taking Iowa to the Rose Bowl last year, Ferentz will be back for a while to come. Here’s guessing that Iowa fans return back to Kinnick Stadium in droves this season, even if the Hawkeyes continue to lose games against opponents like North Dakota State.
