College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 4
By Zach Bigalke
The Volunteers finally exorcised their demons against Florida, ending an 11-game losing streak with a come-from-behind 38-28 victory on Saturday. Nothing was going right for Tennessee in the first half, as they gave up 300 yards of offense and three touchdowns to take a 21-3 deficit into halftime. Then Joshua Dobbs found his touch, finishing the day with 319 passing yards and four TDs, and Tennessee held the Gators to just 102 second-half yards.
Now that Tennessee has proven it can hang in there and gut out a gritty victory, they’ll have to keep doing it as they enter a tough stretch of the schedule. The Vols head to Georgia next weekend, play at Texas A&M on October 8, and then host Alabama on October 15. If Butch Jones’ team can make it through that early-October run of contests, they will vault up the AP Top 25 and set themselves up for a spot in the College Football Playoff.
