Against an overmatched Kent State team, Alabama dominated defensively and had no trouble scoring points in a 48-0 win. The Crimson Tide held the visitors to 84 passing yards and 82 rushing yards on offense. The Golden Flashes finished with just five first downs and more turnovers than points. Meanwhile Joshua Jacobs had 97 yards and two touchdowns on just 11 carries, and both Jalen Hurts and Blake Barnett threw TD passes.

After the shutout victory the Tide will undoubtedly remain atop the AP Top 25. Last week they received 50 of the 61 available first-place votes, and Nick Saban’s team should collect a similar amount this week. SEC play now begins in earnest for the defending College Football Playoff national champions. Alabama faces Kentucky at home next week before taking to the road the next two weekends to face ranked opponents Arkansas and Tennessee.
