The Aztecs probably might rise or fall a spot or two depending on how voters perceive the other results around them. But since they remain undefeated, San Diego State will probably remain ranked after appearing in the AP Top 25 last week for the first time in more than 20 years. They will remain behind Texas despite the fact that SDSU won against common opponent California, who beat the Longhorns in a controversial finish last weekend.

While they have not yet started Mountain West play, the Aztecs are the only undefeated team left in the MWC West. They play at South Alabama next week before beginning their conference schedule. With Donnel Pumphrey averaging just under 200 yards per game on the ground and a defense that holds opponents to around 23 points per game, San Diego State will likely be favored in every other game they play during the regular season.
