College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 5
By Zach Bigalke
After losing last year to Memphis, Hugh Freeze’s team got off to a fast start this year in their home rematch against the Tigers. Chad Kelly threw for 361 yards and a score, Eugene Brazley and Akeem Judd both rushed for over 100 yards, and Ole Miss ended up running away with a comfortable three-score win over the AAC contenders. Memphis gained nearly 500 yards of offense but coughed up three interceptions to fall short in their upset bid in Oxford.
Ole Miss has no game next weekend. The Rebels will prepare for a two-game road swing to face Arkansas and LSU in mid-October, and their remaining non-conference game is a trap game against Sun Belt contender Georgia Southern. Also working against Mississippi is the fact that Florida State, the source of one of their two losses, just suffered a second defeat of its own this week. The Rebels are solidly entrenched in the AP Top 25, but they are probably getting close to their ceiling without some results outside of their control.
