College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 5
By Zach Bigalke
Brad Kaaya had just 19 passing attempts on the day, finishing with 241 yards and a touchdown. The ground game was weak, totaling just 115 yards. The Hurricanes were actually outgained on offense by Georgia Tech as the Yellow Jackets dominated time of possession by a two-to-one margin. But Miami’s defense terrorized GT quarterback Justin Thomas all day, forcing two fumbles by the QB and nabbing an interception to thwart the Yellow Jackets at every turn.
The win keeps the Canes undefeated in their first campaign under Mark Richt, and the Georgia Tech game was just the first of a difficult October stretch coming up. Miami faces Florida State and North Carolina at home over the next two weeks, then goes to Blacksburg and South Bend before the end of the month. If they emerge on the other side unscathed, the road is paved to reach the school’s first championship game since joining the ACC and to do so as a highly-ranked team in the AP Top 25.
