College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 5
By Zach Bigalke
The last three minutes of the Tennessee-Georgia game were a chaotic swirl of momentum shifts. Volunteers fans were left thinking they’d won, then lost, only to be pulled from the pits of despair by a 43-yard Joshua Dobbs Hail Mary to Jauan Jennings in the final ten seconds of play. It was Dobbs’ third passing touchdown of the game, and it kept the Vols undefeated and atop the SEC East. Despite having the ball for less than 24 minutes, Tennessee’s offense was able to keep pace with Georgia between the hedges.
Having knocked off Florida and Georgia, their top two challengers for the division title, Tennessee now turns its attention to cross-division games against Texas A&M and Alabama over the next two weeks. These showdowns will really show where the Volunteers stand this season; should they knock off both the Aggies and Crimson Tide, Tennessee will surge up the AP Top 25. For now they’ve worked their way into the top 10 by virtue of the late winner in Athens.
