College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 6
By Zach Bigalke
Nebraska fans might be wondering why the 5-0 Cornhuskers still haven’t been getting as much love in the Top 25. They currently sit atop the Big Ten West as the only unbeaten team in the division. But Mike Riley’s team has built its record against Fresno State, Wyoming, and an Oregon team that looks like a shell of its recent vintages. Their two conference wins have come over Northwestern and Illinois teams that have also lost to Western Michigan.
That said, there is plenty of time for Nebraska to take full control of the division race and vault into the top ten in the polls. Out of their break they face an Indiana team that has already taken down Michigan State. Purdue shouldn’t cause much trouble, meaning that the October 29 game against Wisconsin in Madison could seal which team rises and which team falls. The Huskers have a tough November if they get past the Badger. They have to play Ohio State in Columbus, home games against rising Minnesota and Maryland teams, and a season finale in Iowa City against the Hawkeyes.
