College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 7
By Zach Bigalke
Joe Mixon put on a show for the Sooners on Saturday, doing a little bit of everything in a three-touchdown Oklahoma victory. Mixon hurdled a defender to complete a touchdown reception, then threw a TD pass on a trick play. The tailback also led all rushers with 88 yards on 19 carries. The defense did their job, holding Kansas State under five yards per play. Baker Mayfield was efficient and dangerous through the air as well, completing 25 of 31 attempts for 346 yards and four scores.
After losing to Houston and Ohio State the Sooners plummeted down the AP Top 25. But as they continue to rise in Big 12 play, Oklahoma has also climbed right back up the polls. Bob Stoops takes his team to Texas Tech next weekend, then hosts Kansas to finish October. November will really test their mettle. After a trip to Ames against perennial upset threat Iowa State, the Sooners finish the regular season with home games against Baylor and Oklahoma State sandwiched around a road trip to Morgantown to face West Virginia.
