After losing their undefeated status last week, Tennessee had no answers when Alabama visited Knoxville on Saturday. Despite winning the turnover battle, the Volunteers saw drive after drive snuffed out by the Crimson Tide defense. Joshua Dobbs finished the game with 61 total yards from scrimmage along with a pick-six. The Tennessee defense allowed two different hundred-yard Tide rushers, and Damien Harris was six yards shy of making it three. Nothing Butch Jones and his staff tried to do seemed to work against a superior opponent.

If Tennessee can put the losses to Texas A&M and Alabama in the rearview mirror, they should still be favored in every remaining game this season. A trip to South Carolina next Saturday finishes off the October slate. November opens with three straight home games against FCS Tennessee Tech, Kentucky, and Missouri. They close out the regular season against Vanderbilt in Nashville. Even with losses the past few weeks, Tennessee won’t drop too far in the AP Top 25 as they remain the favorite to top the SEC East.
