College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 7
By Zach Bigalke
After a slow start Florida State eventually managed to pull away from Wake Forest at home on Saturday for a 17-6 victory. Deondre Francois threw for 319 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Dalvin Cook carried 25 times for 115 tough yards against the Demon Deacons defense. The FSU defense held Wake Forest to just 252 total yards of offense, forcing two interceptions and a fumble to help mitigate the impact of four Seminoles turnovers. Florida State was hardly impressive and probably won’t gain too much purchase in the polls.
Thankfully for the Seminoles they had already bolstered their position in the Top 25 by knocking off Miami last week, and now they get a bye week. Jimbo Fisher’s team has a chance to play their way back into the ACC Atlantic race when they take on Clemson at home on October 29. A tough road game at NC State opens up the November schedule, and the Seminoles also play home against Boston College and finish ACC play against Syracuse before the regular-season finale against state rival Florida. The ACC championship is still a longshot, but FSU is consolidating its Top 25 position.
