College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 7
By Zach Bigalke
Mike Riley’s team nearly gave up the game in Bloomington, but held on to maintain their perfect record and their position in the AP Top 25. Tommy Armstrong Jr. was just 10 of 26 passing for 206 yards, throwing one touchdown but also two interceptions. The dual-threat Armstrong only added 36 yards on the ground. Terrell Newby stepped up in the backfield, running 22 times for 102 yards and a score and catching one short pass. The defense was the difference maker for the Huskers, as they held the Hoosiers under 100 rushing yards and picked off two Richard Lagow passes — including the pick that ended the upset effort.
Nebraska returns home to play Purdue next weekend. They head to Madison on the last weekend of October for a big game against Wisconsin that has major Big Ten West implications. If they manage to get through the Badgers and remain undefeated at that point, they have to turn around and play Ohio State in Columbus at the beginning of November. Home games against Minnesota and Maryland preface a regular-season finale against Iowa in what could still prove to be a de facto division championship game.
