College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 7
By Zach Bigalke
Last week Texas A&M leapfrogged Louisville in the AP Top 25 after holding off Tennessee’s late comeback, and their reward this week is a well-deserved rest. After starting the past two seasons 5-0, the Aggies finally got over the hurdle and started undefeated for the first half of their season. Kevin Sumlin’s team actually leads the SEC West at this point, having already racked up a 4-0 record in conference play. Ranked in the top ten nationally in rushing, they are also in the top 25 in points scored and points allowed per game.
After their break, Texas A&M puts their perfect season and their spot atop the SEC West on the line when they take on Alabama in Tuscaloosa on October 22. Win that game and the Aggies will be at the forefront of a changing of the guard in the division. Their only other road game after Alabama is at Mississippi State; Sumlin’s squad has the advantage of playing Ole Miss and LSU at home, which could be critical if they’re on path to close out the division and play for SEC and College Football Playoff honors.
