College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 7
By Zach Bigalke
Western Michigan remains undefeated this week and should jump a few spots in the Top 25 as a result. Jarvion Franklin did the heavy lifting against Akron, carrying the ball 33 times for 281 yards and a touchdown along with an 18-yard reception. In the process the workhorse back outgained the whole Akron offense. The Broncos defense held the Zips under 300 total yards to pitch the shutout. Zach Terrell added 207 yards and two scores in the air and another 34 yards and two TDs on the ground. The hosts could do little as WMU dominated possession throughout the game.
P.J. Fleck’s team gets to play at home next weekend against Eastern Michigan and should be 8-0 by the time the calendar flips to November. The Broncos open next month with back-to-back Tuesday night road games at Ball State and Kent State. Western Michigan returns home to play Buffalo on November 19, then closes the regular season with a showdown in Kalamazoo against Toledo. The Thanksgiving weekend matchup could decide the MAC West this season, and is probably the only real obstacle remaining between Western Michigan and a perfect record.
