Clemson showed everyone on Saturday that they are going to go as far as their quarterback Deshaun Watson is going to take them. Watson had a staggering 52 attempts, completing 39, while throwing for two touchdowns and one interception. He also had 35 rushing yards and one touchdown.

But it’s safe to say the Tigers escaped with a win on Saturday. A little luck helped their cause. NC State was looking at a 33-yard field goal to win the game at the end of regulation…and he pushed it wide right.

I’m sure the people in Louisville weren’t too happy.

Then in overtime Clemson converted a fourth-and-one to set up a Deshaun Watson 10-yard touchdown pass, the eventual game winner. A big sigh of relief from the Tigers.

This win could be crucial, and looked back upon if the Tigers finish out the year and get to back to the College Football Playoff. A Clemson loss on Saturday? Anything could happen. And you invite Lamar Jackson and the Louisville Cardinals right back into the picture.

But Clemson got the job done. It wasn’t pretty, and that’s why they dropped two spots from last week, but a win’s a win.
