A week after suffering an upset at Temple, South Florida returned the favor to Navy at home. The Bulls knocked off the Midshipmen by a touchdown to keep pace with the Owls in the AAC East. Though they need Temple to lose another conference game to represent the division in the championship game, South Florida is currently the best positioned among the league’s teams to compete for the Access Bowl berth this season.

With nine games already under their belt, the Bulls take a bye week in Week 10 before opening their last month of the regular-season schedule at Memphis on November 12. They play on the road at SMU the following week, then return to Florida for their rivalry game at home against UCF on Thanksgiving weekend. If Temple does not lose again, USF will be out of luck, but at this point they look like the only team complete enough to have a shot against whoever emerges from the West.
