College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 10
By Zach Bigalke
Unlike Baylor, West Virginia was able to rebound from its first loss of the season against an overmatched Kansas team on Saturday. Dana Holgorsen’s team dominated the Jayhawks at every turn, taking a 31-0 lead into halftime. Things didn’t get any better for Kansas after the break, as West Virginia racked up over 600 yards of offense to fuel a 48-21 victory. Though the WVU defense allowed over 400 yards to the Jayhawks, the visitors never really had a chance to get into the contest.
The win keeps the Mountaineers in the race for the Big 12, but beating the Jayhawks isn’t likely to move them very far in the polls or the CFP rankings. Last week West Virginia was ranked six spots lower by the CFP committee than they were in the AP Top 25, and there will likely be a little adjustment in the AP poll this week. Losses by Texas A&M and Florida will help normalize things between the two polls, and with WVU still in the hunt for the conference title they will remain somewhere between 14 and 16 this week.
