Florida State struggled against NC State on Saturday evening, eking out a 24-20 victory against an upset-minded Wolfpack team. Deondre Francois threw for 330 yards and a touchdown, helping keep the Seminoles on track in the polls after Week 10. Every passing yard was needed, as NC State held Dalvin Cook to 65 rushing yards and the entire FSU offense to just 68 total yards on the ground. Though Jimbo Fisher’s team had the ball for only 25 minutes, they did just enough to pull out the victory on the road.

The CFP committee thought far less of the Seminoles in their first rankings of the season than the AP voters have esteemed them. Hovering barely inside the Top 25 of the CFP rankings, they are not going to impress either group very much with this performance against NC State. With Clemson’s win today, FSU is officially out of the running for the ACC Coastal this season, and with a ceiling of 9-3 they are unlikely to make a New Year’s Six bowl either.
