The Virginia Tech Hokies survived another week using their current “Survive and Advance” formula. They held off the Blue Devils second half comeback to pull out another 3-point victory for the second week in a row. Their 24-21 victory over Duke keeps them at number three in this week’s power rankings.

The Hokies used a 10-play, 53-yard drive that spanned the last four minutes in the game to hold off any chances of blowing the late lead. The defense forced a punt in fourteen seconds on the Blue Devils final possession to get the ball back.

A 75-yard return on a blocked field goal by safety Adonis Alexander was the spark of the day the Hokies needed. Cornerback Greg Stroman was credited with the field goal block on the play.

This Week: Georgia Tech

The Hokies will buckle down this week again for another tough game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Virginia Tech has won six of the last seven meetings by an average margin of 5.4 points a game.
