Troy made their way into the AP poll for the first time in school history after improving to 8-1 last weekend against Appalachian State. Despite being outgained by nearly 100 yards on offense, the Mountaineers took a 24-21 lead with three and a half minutes remaining. The Trojans marched downfield on the next drive, capped by an 11-yard Jordan Chunn touchdown run for the winning points. Chunn finished with 129 yards and two scores on the day to keep Troy on pace for its first Sun Belt title since 2010.

Next week the Trojans face their other main competition for the conference crown, taking on Arkansas State at home with a chance to take sole possession of the top of the standings. A road swing takes Troy to Texas State and Georgia Southern over the final two weeks of the regular season, and if this team manages to win out they would have a serious case for Access Bowl consideration after nearly knocking off Clemson earlier this year.
