College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 12
By Zach Bigalke
In a game that was originally scheduled for October 8 in Gainesville, Florida took to the road in the rescheduled game to beat LSU in Baton Rouge on Saturday. The Gators mustered just 270 yards on offense, led by Jordan Scarlett’s 108 rushing yards. But while the defense gave up over 400 yards to the Tigers, they also forced two fumbles and survived a goal-line challenge in the final minute to preserve the victory.
Despite having to go on the road instead of playing at home in the rescheduled game, the Gators locked up their spot in the SEC championship with the win in Baton Rouge. Though they have shuffled between quarterbacks and remain as anemic on offense as they were during the Muschamp era, Florida has now won two straight division titles under Jim McElwain and gets another chance to take down Alabama. First, however, they must take on Florida State over Thanksgiving weekend. If they knock off the Seminoles and the Crimson Tide, Florida could be a College Football Playoff dark-horse candidate.
