The Crimson Tide continued their march to a third straight College Football Playoff appearance by defeating Auburn in the Iron Bowl on Saturday to finish the regular season with a perfect 12-0 record. Jalen Hurts completed 75 percent of his passing attempts and finished with 323 total yards and three combined scores. The Tide defense suffocated Auburn, holding the Tigers under 200 total yards of offense and pulling away in the second half for the victory.

Now Alabama prepares for its showdown with Florida in the SEC championship game in Atlanta. Having held on to the top position in the AP Top 25 and the CFP rankings wire-to-wire for the entire 2016 season, they might even remain in the playoff field with a loss to the Gators. Nick Saban’s team has built a cushion for itself unlike any other team enjoys at this point of the season, and there is no reason to expect them to slip out of pole position once the next polls are released.
