3. Texas’ defense will hold Maryland’s offense under 250 total yards

The Maryland Terrapins recently named Tyrrell Pigrome their starting quarterback for their season opener against the Texas Longhorns. It bodes well for a Longhorns’ defense that returns 10 starters from last year’s team.

Pigrome saw limited action last season a freshman, appearing in 11 games with one start under his belt. He enters as a dual-threat guy who has shown flashes of his potential but is still limited in his experience.

The Longhorns should be able to use the Terrapins inexperience on offense to their advantage and set a tone defense. Holding the Terrapins’ offense under 250 total yards goes a long way in showing this defense what they’re capable of.

The Texas defense gave up 47 points in Week One to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish last season. Although, the game was won in overtime by the offense putting up 50 points of their own. They allowed 444 total yards of offense and didn’t force a turnover in the game.

Things should change in this season opener and it starts on defense for the Texas Longhorns.
