Arkansas Football: 5 reasons the Razorbacks beat TCU

5. Arkansas defense outlasts TCU’s

The meeting between these two teams last year ended in a 41-38 victory for Arkansas in double overtime. Their defense outlasted TCU’s one season ago and they’ll do the same now. Austin Allen’s touchdown run in the second overtime period sealed TCU’s fate.

Head coach Gary Patterson needs to make sure his run defense is prepared for what’s to come. The Razorbacks have at least three running backs that could gash the Frogs. Watch out for the Hogs defense to come up big in all three levels.

Arkansas brought down the quarterback three times in Week 1. Sophomore defensive end McTelvin Agim is now waiting to get his. Agim managed four tackles, one for loss, against Florida A&M. He should get his first sack of the season this week.

All the seniors in the secondary will ultimately carry the defense. Cornerback Henre’ Tolliver and safety Josh Liddell will come up huge and lock things down against the TCU offense. While the quarterbacks are the most important thing to determine the outcome, defensive play is significant as well.
