NFL Mock Draft 2018: Complete first round after Week 2
If you’re a Jaguar fan and you’re already sick of the Blake Bortles era, raise your hand. That’s all of you? OK, there’s a solution and his name is Josh Allen out of Wyoming.
You don’t often hear of Mountain West quarterbacks being near or even at the top of the draft prospect rankings for the position, but Allen breaks the mold. He’s an accurate passer on the run, which may be his best quality.
The Jaguars need a franchise quarterback, and it might be time to move on from Bortles who has been about as inaccurate and disappointing as any gunslinger in the NFL through his first couple of years. Allen would be a sight for sore eyes in Jacksonville, and the dual-threat ability helps.
Last year as a sophomore, he finished with 523 rushing yards and seven touchdowns while passing for another 3,203 yards and 28 scores. Some have dubbed him the best quarterback prospect in this class, but I think he forces too many throws to earn that distinction. However, he might have the highest ceiling.
