NFL Mock Draft 2018: Complete first round after Week 2
Although Texas hasn’t exactly gotten off to the ideal start in the Tom Herman era, it possesses one of the best linebacker prospects of any recent class. He’s somewhat of a raw talent who has yet to reach his full potential, like many who get drafted this early, and the Buccaneers could take a chance on him.
Jefferson has all the talent in the world, but his production thus far at Texas hasn’t exactly been eye-popping. He had 61 tackles as a true freshman for Charlie Strong in 2015 and then took a step back with 60 as a sophomore.
However, Jefferson could give the Bucs a nice pass-rushing inside, or outside, linebacker as he went from 2.5 sacks as a freshman to 6.5 as a sophomore as well as nine tackles for loss. He can get after it in the blitzing game, but he needs to show more production as a junior.
The junior linebacker’s ceiling is extremely high, but he needs the production to soon match the potential. The athletic defensive playmaker already has 16 tackles in two games this season, so look for him to shatter his previous season-highs.
