NFL Mock Draft 2018: Complete first round after Week 2
Christian Wilkins is a monster. Heck, just ask Auburn how much it enjoyed facing Wilkins and the rest of the Clemson front-seven during the Week 2 matchup. Wilkins stands 6-foot-4 and weighs in at 310 pounds, making him nearly unblockable at the collegiate level.
The Lions could use a hard-to-guard defensive tackle as Haloti Ngata is getting up there in age. Although A’Shawn Robinson shows plenty of promise, the line should be one of the areas to target for the Lions’ front office in 2018.
That’s where Wilkins comes in. The junior is an absolute beast in the middle of the defense and could instantly impact the Lions. He’s a guy who could start day one and generate a pass rush with that young, improving Lions front-seven.
As a sophomore, Wilkins broke out with the national champs, recording 13 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks with 48 total takedowns. He currently has 11 tackles, 2.5 for loss and two sacks in 2017. Don’t sleep on him as a top-10 pick, although the Lions may not draft this high.
