2. Tuneups can help from time to time

Auburn moves right from an easier opponent to another tough game in Week 5 when they host the No. 17 Mississippi State Bulldogs, a team that just got railed by the No. 11 Georgia Bulldogs. Yet, Mississippi State will be ready for this game.

Building confidence is something that Auburn had to do during these two weeks against Mizzou and Mercer. The Mercer game did not go as planned but it did help the coaching staff address some key areas with the team, including turnover prevention.

Any time you can beat an opponent by 37-points in conference, it will be a great win for the program. Even with Mizzou possibly being the worst out of all the teams in the SEC, the Auburn defense was still great in shutting them down.

Former Baylor transfer quarterback Jarrett Stidham played well in this game as well. Stidham threw for 218 yards and one touchdown with no interceptions. He could end up being a very good quarterback in head coach Gus Malzahn’s system after all.
