Florida State Football: Positional report card for loss to NC State
By Shane Lunnen
After producing an anemic 40 yards rushing in the opening game against Alabama, the Seminoles slightly improved with 104 yards on the ground. That has to improve if they want to help out their young quarterback.
Freshman Cam Akers led the team with 58 yards on only 12 carries and backup Jacques Patrick chipped in 38 yards on eight carries. However this group had no touchdowns and they did not provide much in the receiving game, although Blackman missed Patrick on what could have been a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

One would think with a young, inexperienced quarterback, the Seminoles would have relied more on the rushing game to set up smart, easy throws. That was not the case and it surprised me that they had Blackman throw as much as he did. The lack of rushing attack also has to do with the weak offensive line not getting much of a push up front. Perhaps they can get it going next week against Wake Forest.
