Berrios was very consistent in this game with several big plays to his credit. Miami has waited a long time for the senior to establish himself as a number one option, perhaps a game like this could lead to that perception moving forward.

For the day Berrios had five catches for 105 yards and a nice touchdown pass that was upheld after official review. This was the first 100-yard game for Berrios in his career, his previous best in a game was 64 yards. He also had a career long 55-yard reception in the game and is on pace to smash his season high of 21 receptions. Berrios has never had more than three touchdowns in a season, and with two already in 2017 that mark should be broken as well.

In his career Berrios has only 53 receptions, he already has eight so far after two games. He is a prototypical slot receiver in size, standing 5-foot-9 and 186 pounds. Berrios’ best season was in 2014 when he tallied those 21 receptions for 232 yards and three touchdowns.

The Hurricanes receiving corps has been banged up with top receiver Ahmmon Richards missing both games so far in the season. Miami has a lot of young receivers with freshman Mike Harley and Jeff Thomas waiting in the wings. Berrios has the experience to not only be productive on the field, but in a mentor role to the young receivers on the Hurricanes roster.
