College Football 2017: 3 complete overreactions from Week 7 action
1. UCF is the best in the Group of Five
This is no typo. I did not mean USF, I do mean the UCF Golden Knights. In the matter of one season, head coach Scott Frost has turned UCF back into a power in the Group of Five.
The Golden Knights are very capable on both sides of the ball. Let’s first start with the best side: the offense.
On offense, UCF is lead by Hawaiian sophomore McKenzie Milton. Many have not heard of his name but he puts up great numbers. His 70.3 percent completion rate is sixth in the FBS, second in the Group of Five. He has only thrown two interceptions and does not have any multiple-interception games. And his 203.6 passer rating is second in the FBS among qualified players. Baker Mayfield is the only that is ahead of him.
Milton is also the second leading rusher for Central Florida.
The total offense is one of the best in the nation. Their 87.8 offensive efficiency rating is sixth in the country and the best outside of the Power Five.
The Golden Knights’ defense is also formidable. They have the third most interceptions in the nation. The defense’s efficiency rating is 22nd in the FBS and third in the Group of Five.
