When you don’t play, you can’t really hurt yourself or help yourself. That’s where North Carolina sits. The Tar Heels had a bye this past week, leaving them still winless in the conference and just 1-8 overall.

North Carolina gets a chance to possibly pick up its first win in conference play when they travel to Pittsburgh this Thursday night.

Much like North Carolina, Duke had the week off this past Saturday, leaving them just a spot ahead of the Tar Heels in the power rankings.

With one league win and three victories outside the conference, the Blue Devils still have a chance at a bowl this year. They’ll try to improve to .500 when they meet Army in a non-ACC contest in West Point on Saturday.

And the Cardinals were another ACC team that had the first weekend in November off, but they drop a spot based on Florida State actually playing and winning this past Saturday.

Lamar Jackson and the Cardinals seek their third conference victory of the season when they host Virginia on Saturday afternoon.

For Wake Forest, the rest of the season could be a tough one. Star freshman Greg Dortch was lost for the year to an injury last week and the Demon Deacons did little to strike fear in the hearts of Notre Dame.

Scoring 37 points looks good on paper, but much of it came in garbage time and after the Irish were forced to sit several starters with injuries of their own.

Wake Forest will try to get to bowl eligibility when they travel to Syracuse Saturday.
